Sin City

“Haunted by mobsters and strip clubs, Newport was always the city with the beautiful view and bad reputation. Appropriately tagged ‘Sin City,’ the riverside community had problems of criminal and corrupt activity,” or so reports ChallengerNKY.com in this article.

The City of Newport’s Mayor, Tom Guidugli, says “‘[a]dult entertainment is a terrible thing for a community to put up with, especially the women in the community…. So we made a major change my first year.’ The change was to implement a license fee of $5,000 to club owners, and to effectuate strict rules enforcing the women in the clubs to wear bathing suits. These changes narrowed 17 such clubs down to only two.”

I suspect that Kentucky’s Sin City differs from this one.
